PLEASE NOTE: Lessons must be cancelled at least 24-hours in advance to avoid cancellation charges. All Club rules and regulations must be followed including signing liability waiver forms.
Carl Davis
Carl Davis is the Director of Tennis at Match Point Tennis Academy with over 26 years of playing, coaching and training experience. Carl is a PTR Certifed Professional working with high performance athletes at the tournament, collegiate and high school level. He is currently the Men and Women’s Assistant Coach at Purdue University Northwest, Head Coach at Hobart High School for the Men and Women’s teams and President of the Brickie Youth Tennis Association. Carl also serves as the Director of Tennis for the Valparaiso and Hobart Parks Department. Carl is currently certifying in the Spanish system in player development and fitness and tennis conditioning with Pat Etcheberry.
Kenny Walsh
Kenny Walsh, assistant head Pro, is an Associate Pro certifying through PTR as a high performance teaching professional. He has been teaching and coaching both full and part-time primarily in Northwest Indiana for the last 5 years. He is the current Assistant Coach for the Men and Women’s tennis program at Hobart High School, and the Head Coach for the Hobart Middle School Program. Kenny brings a wealth of experience as a stand-out player and developmental coach.
Steve Cavazos
Steve Cavazos has been teaching tennis since 2001 and has been a member of Match Point Tennis & Fitness since 1978. He has taught all levels of tennis from beginners to tournament players. He has experience teaching privates, semi-privates, groups and running USTA Tournaments. He is the Head Tennis Coach for Men and Women at Calumet College in Hammond Indiana, and is co-director of the “Red Hot Tennis” summer camp program sponsored by the Highland Parks and Recrea on Department. He is also a USTA Certified Tennis Official and an active member of both the USTA and PTR.
Ofelia Madrigal
Ofelia Madrigal has a BS in RHIT Management from Purdue University. She is currently a USTA cer ed Tennis O cial and is USPTR cer ed. In 2001 she began working with beginner junior groups and, since then, has expanded her teaching and coaching career. She has taught all levels of group and private lessons from children to adults and has experience as a Tournament Director. Her experience also includes coaching High School and College. She is also the co-founder of the “Red Hot Tennis Organiza on” as well as co-director and instructor of Highland Parks and Rec. Summer Tennis Programs.
Lucian Tabic
Lucian Tabic has a BA in International Studies from Roosevelt University and a MS in Sport Management from Northern Illinois University. He was the Assistant Women’s Tennis coach at NCAA D1 NIU for several years and is currently the Head Men’s and Women’s tennis coach at Roosevelt University, located downtown Chicago.He is a current member in good standing with the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), with an emphasis on High Performance Coaching. He has taught all levels since 2007– from beginning juniors and recreational tennis all the way to advanced tournament level play, focusing with players onachieving goals of competing at the collegiate level. Lucian still plays competitive USTA Team Tennis and he was part of the 4.0 NTRP 2013 Illinois State Championship Team.
Tim Maluga
Tim Maluga is the head coach of the Purdue Calumet women’s tennis program, and third year as the head coach of the Peregrines’ men’s program. In Maluga’s five seasons at the helm, the Peregrines’ have had 16 CCAC All-Academic selections, seven NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes, one CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District honoree and one CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District selection. Before Purdue Calumet, Maluga completed a highly decorated seven-year s nt at NCAA Division I Valparaiso University. Maluga was a three-time Mid- Continent Conference Coach of the Year at Valpo, while guiding the Crusaders to three-straight conference titles and a pair of NCAA Division I Tournament berths. Prior to his me at Valparaiso, Maluga spent 11 seasons at the helm of the Griffith High School boy’s and girl’s tennis teams.
Eric Carmen Sr.
Eric Carmen Sr. is a certified teaching professional for over 25 years, originally certified with United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR). He has been teaching and coaching both full and part-time primarily in Northwest Indiana and is the current Assistant Coach at Hobart High School in Hobart, IN.
Eric has worked as a teaching pro for Northwest Athletic Club (Michigan City, IN.), Match Point Tennis & Fitness (Griffith, IN.) and Head Teaching Pro at Hudson-Campbell Sports & Fitness Center (Gary, IN.). Eric also held Head Coaching positions at Horace Mann High School (Boys, Gary, IN.), Rogers High School (Now Michigan City High School, Boys, Michigan City, IN.) and Marquette High School (Girls, Michigan City).
